Bangladesh Test skipper Shakib al Hasan has sent a legal notice to Banglalink and Jamuna Bank for using his pictures even after his brand ambassador contract with them expired, seeking compensation of BDT Five Crores 80 Lakhs Fifty thousand.
Shakib requested the companies to pay Tk5, 80, 50,000 crore as compensation and to refrain from promoting all types of advertisements containing his image, brand, and signature.
In the event of the failure of payment within next seven, Shakib claimed to take appropriate legal measures against the companies.

According to the notice, Shakib Al Hasan's brand image was entered into an agreement with the mobile operator Banglalink for limited use in their business activities. The contract period started on January 21, 2014, and ended on January 20, 2016.
But even after the expiry of the contract, Banglalink has been using Shakib Al Hasan's image, brand, signature and advertisement, the notice said.
Shakib claimed that Banglalink breached the contract and is illegally promoting his image in ATM booths of Jamuna Bank and other places to achieve their own business interests. Evidence of involvement of Banglalink and Jamuna Bank in such illegal activities was found, the notice added.
Describing such acts as “abhorrent, illegal and immoral”, the notice included that, apart from breach of contract under Section 26 of the Digital Security Act, 2018, Section 44 of the Consumers' Right Protection Act, 2009, Section 82 of the Copyright Act, 2000, and Section 406 and 420 of the Penal Code 1860 was violated.
