BPL 8 to be Held in March 2021!
A couple of months ago BCB’s directors informed the media that they are trying to organize the eighth editions of the Bangladesh Premier League this year but a recent report suggests BCB is not in an ideal position to arrange everything to host the tournament in December.
Speaking with online cricket portal Cricbuz, BPL’s member secretary Ismail Haider Mallick said “There are a lot of foreign cricketers involved in BPL while we also have to accommodate other foreigners like match officials and members of the broadcasting unit. Unless we have big foreign stars there is no attraction for BPL and to make that happen we need to make them confident to come here and play and so we need to play DPL somewhere in between to prove that cricket can be played here,”
BCB is focusing on resume domestic cricket and if we consider Ismail Haider Mallick’s opinion then cricket will start again with the postponed Dhaka Premier League 2020. But the fate of the cash-rich franchise-based Bangladesh Premier League is still in doubt.
According to Mallick, BCB will observe the overall situation in next few months before taking a final decision in this regard. But at the moment, Cricket Board is eying to organize the tournament in March 2021.
“We can try to look for a window in March for BPL but that depends on how the world is impacted by corona as most of the stakeholders will have to deal with the health guidelines for the competition,” he also added.
