Bangladesh were handed a big humiliation by Zimbabwe in the series-deciding final T20I as the hosts won the game by 10 runs to complete their maiden T20I series victory over the visitors at Harare Sports Club in Harare on Tuesday.
Zimbabwe’s middle-order batsman Ryan Burl was the main architect of their win against Bangladesh as he struck 54 off 28 balls – including a game-changing over where he struck left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed for 34 runs (five sixes and a four) that helped them post 156-8 in 20 overs.
Bangladesh team, which lost their momentum in the game after the over, then could make 146-8 in their stipulated overs and lost the three-match series 1-2.
The Tigers earlier never lost a T20I series against Zimbabwe as they won three and drew the other three in the previous six T20I series against Zimbabwe.
On Tuesday, despite losing the toss, Bangladesh started the match strongly under their new captain Mosaddek Hossain as they reduced the hosts to 67-6 in 13 overs.

Burl then smashed Nasum for 34 runs in the 15th over of their innings - most runs conceded by a Bangladeshi bowler in T20Is - to bring Zimbabwe back in the match and he shared a 79-run stand for the seventh wicket with Luke Jongwe (35 off 20 balls) to guide them to a challenging total.
Mahedi Hasan and Hasan Mahmud took two wickets for Bangladesh.
In reply, Bangladesh lost Liton Das (13), debutant Parvez Hossain Emon (two) and Anamul Haque Bijoy (14) within the powerplay and despite Afif Hossain’s unbeaten knock of 39 runs and Mahmudullah (27) and Mahedi’s (22) scoring handy knocks, they fell short of the target.
Victor Nyauchi finished with 3-29 while Brad Evans took 2-26 including successive wickets of Mahmudullah and Mosaddek.
Burl was named player of the match while Sikandar Raza, who scored 127 runs and took two wickets in the series, was adjudged player of the series.
Bangladesh will face the same opponents in a three-match ODI series with the first match to take place on August 5 at the same venue.
