Bangladesh are looking forward to clinch the upcoming ODI series against Australia on the back of spin-friendly wicket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

SBNS will host the three ODI respectively March 21, 24 and 27 while followed it up with three T20Is scheduled from March 31 with the other two games slated respectively on April 2 and 4.

Both the teams had begun their training at the SBNS ahead of the series that will mark the Australia’s first women’s bilateral tour of Bangladesh.

“I think we have gone past those days when we felt participation is an opportunity.  I think we have a decent chance of winning the series because we have a home advantage. I think we have a good chance against them and winning the series is our target. If we want to play global we need points and as that is the case in the ODI series.  Our major focus is on ODI,” BCB women’s team chief selector Sazzad Ahmed told reporters on Tuesday adding that they are banking to cash on home advantage.

“We are talking about reality and soil is different here. They play in bouncy and fast wicket but here it won’t be easy to play. Of you see at our neighboring country India every team struggle there and we are not different and we feel due to the wicket we have a fair chance,” he said.

“Traditionally what kind wicket is there in Bangladesh and that might not be favorable for Australia because they are not used to play in this kind of wicket. I think we are ahead of them in spin and that is the recognition of Nahida validates that and our batting is also good,” he said adding that they are not thinking too much on the pace threat of the Aussies.

“We played our last series in South Africa and we faced pace bowlers there and we handled them well and I don’t think it will be a big difference here. Those pacers we know (of Australia) are not that fast and out batters are prepared for that,” he said.
