The announcement came a day after BCB president Nazmul Hasan told reporters that he have agreed to play the two-match Test series against the Protease, scheduled from March onwards.

‘’Today I am on holiday,’’ Shakib said when his attention was drawn regarding their chances in the two-match T20’s series against Afghanistan.

Shakib said that he is not ready to open up about his participation in the Test series against South Africa, raising quite a few eyebrows whether he will be playing Test against South Africa or not.

What is there to open up,’’ Shakib questioned when one journalist asked him to clear the air.

‘’You want to( whether I am available or not) and you will be informed about it( in due time),’’ he said.

Shakib, who returned to Dhaka from Chattogram along with other team members after completing the three-match ODI’s against Afghanistan, attended a private function instead of joining his team mates in the team hotel ahead of the two-match Twenty20 series against the Afghans, scheduled in Dhaka respectively on March 3 and 5.

The visitors also arrived and both teams are expected to start their preparation at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today.

BCB said that Shakib is expected to join his team mates after showing Covid-19 negative result.

This is not the first time Shakib is coming out of the bio-bubble as he did that during the Bangladesh Premier League to attend a TV shoot as well as joined the team a day after they arrived in Chattogram ahead of the Afghan series considering he was busy for a shooting.
