Bangladesh T20 skipper Shakib al Hasan said that they are not ready to make rain interruption as an excuse for losing against India as they suffered a five-run defeat to India in the D/L method in the last ball of a nail-biting Group 2 Super 12 encounter of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup.

Liton Das smashed a blistering fifty to hand India a potential blow however his fellow team-mates failed to capitalise it as Bangladesh suffered a 5-run defeat (D/L Method) in a rain hit Super 12 match of the ICC T20 World Cup in Brisbane on Wednesday.

Liton who secured a 21-ball 50 finished with 60 off 27 hitting seven fours and three maximums, his maiden fifty in the T20Is.

Apart from him Nurul Hasan hit an undefeated 13-ball 24 while a 25-ball 21 came from Najmul Hossain Shanto to take Bangladesh to 145-6 after a revised target of 151 from 16 overs.

“I mean that’s the decision (playing after the rain) that umpires make we don’t make that decisions you know we are here to play cricket both teams wanted to play full 20 overs unfortunately rain interrupted but I am happy the way both the teams played really well we were so close like 2016 World Cup but wasn’t close enough,” he said.

“It was little slippery normally that suits batting side rather than bowling side and we should not make that an excuse,” he said.

Shakib added that Liton should have been more careful as he slipped twice stating that as unfortunate.

“Yes, it is unfortunate for Liton as he slipped twice and I am not sure whether he was running inside the pitch or through the side of the pitch where there was grass whether he was running from that side or not because when he slipped for the first time he should have been run carefully but I am not sure through which area he was running because I am the next batsman and didn’t understand through which area he was running,” he said.
