Bangladesh Test and ODI’s skipper Shakib al Hasan reached Dubai on Saturday to play for Bangla Tigers in the upcoming Abu Dhabi T10 League.
Shakib signed with Bangla Tigers as an icon player and later was named captain of the team for the fifth season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
Bangla Tigers in their WhatsApp group on Saturday shared a VDO where Shakib was seen arriving at the team hotel. This six-team competition will be held from November 23 to December 4.
Former Bangladeshi all-rounder, Aftab Ahmed has been appointed as the head coach of the team and Nazmul Abedin Fahim as the assistant coach. Besides, former Indian fast bowler S Sreesanth has been named mentor of the side. This will be first coaching experience for Sreesanth after retiring from domestic cricket in March this year.
West Indies batter Evin Lewis, New Zealand's Colin Munro, Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir and Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana are also set to join the franchise along with Shakib.
Bangla Tigers finished third under Faf du Plessis during the last edition after earning six win from 10 group phase matches.
Shakib has participated in the tournament before, playing five matches for Kerala Knights in the inaugural edition. He has a prolific record in T20s, scoring 5,974 runs at a strike rate of 121.59 in 367 matches and picking up 418 wickets at an economy of 6.78.
