Bangladesh’s newly appointed ODI skipper Nigar Sultana Joty is doubtful to take part in the three-match ODI series opener against Zimbabwe today due to finger and thumb injuries.

A member of the team management told Daily Cricket on Tuesday adding that they are not ready to take any chance with Nigar considering she is an integral part of their set-up in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2021.

“She injured her thumb and finger of her left hand while holding a catch during a practice game in ULAB. Today is the ninth day of her injury and now we are waiting for her report from the physio and even if she is 50-50, we won’t like to take chance considering the qualifier is coming up,” said the official on Tuesday.

Nuzhat Tasnia is expected to keep wick ets for Tigresses in the series opener in Bulawayo.

Ahead of the match, the Tigresses took part in a practice session in Bulawayo on Tuesday. There is also a good chance of rain in today’s encounter.

Bangladesh women’s team last played a WODI back in November 2019 against Pakistan. The remaining two games are scheduled on November 13 and 15 respectively.
