A Bangladesh Cricket Board official said on Thursday that they have banned uncapped Mehedy Hasan Rana for one month for making degrading remarks about national selection panel members on his social media page.

The ban will bar Rana from taking part in the ongoing National Cricket League, country’s traditional first-class tournament.

‘’He (Rana) accepted his fault and that is the reason we have banned him for month,’’ said a BCB official.

Mehedi, the left-arm pace bowler, accused the selectors on his verified Facebook page that they didn’t respond to his queries after they promised him a place in the A team. However, he wasn’t included in the squad later.

The 25-year-old removed the post 20 minutes after he wrote it on Facebook but by that time it went viral on social media which put the BCB into embarrassment. 

Mehedi met BCB officials for explanation recently and he accepted that he made a mistake. Mehedi is expected to be available for BPL.
