Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo said that he is impressed with Mahedi Hasan terming him as a three-in-one cricketer while added that he never complains to take any role given to him.

“I am a big fan of Mahedi. I think the most important thing is his character. He is always up to fulfill any role in the team. It is not easy batting up the order, down the order. He never complains. He is focused on what the team needs. 

He is versatile with the ball – he can bowl in the middle, at the death and up front,’’ Domingo said in the press conference on Saturday.

‘’He is definitely a three-in-one cricketer for us. The big thing about his preparation is that he is happy to be doing any role. He sees them as a big challenge, and takes them on 100 per cent. I am happy with how his campaign has gone so far,’’ he said.

The 26-year old who is playing his maiden ICC World T20 managed to draw the attention with tight bowling and big hitting in the qualifiers in Oman.

Mahedi produced a stellar all-round show against Scotland in their first match of the qualifiers though it went in vain.

The all-rounder took three wickets for 19 with the ball before he provided some lusty blows with the bat while recognized batsmen failed to live up to the expectations.

In their must-win game against Oman, Mahedi played a vital role with ball as he conceded just 14 runs including 12 dot balls in his four over spells that changed the complex of the game as the batsmen struggled to find much-needed boundaries against him.

Mahedi was impressive too against PNG with the ball which helped them to clinch their super 12 berth in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Oman and UAE. 

Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in their first match of Super 12 on Sunday in Dubai.
