Defending champions Bangladesh will take on India in the ICC Under-19 World Cup quarter-final as they out classed their United Arab Emirates counterparts by nine wickets in accordance with the Duckworth-Lewis method on Saturday.
Junior Tigers bundled the Emiratis out for 148 in 48.1 overs, courtesy Ripon Mondol’s three-wicket haul coupled by Ashiqur Zaman and Tanzim Hasan Sakib discipline bowling, who picked two wickets apiece.
In reply, the youngsters in red and green were off to a solid start as openers Mahfijul Islam (64 not out) and Iftekhar Hossain (37) put on 86 before the latter was dismissed in the second ball of the 22nd over.
Rain then halted play briefly before play resumed with Bangladesh set a revised target of 107 in 35 overs. The holders wasted little time in reaching their revised target, taking 3.3 more overs to coast to the destination without any loss of wickets.
Rakibul Hasan and Co have faced the Indians quite a few times in the recent past; the former famously coming out on top in the 2020 U-19 World Cup final in South Africa.
