Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan said on Wednesday that he will take part for Barisal franchises in the Bangladesh Premier League.

‘’I have talked with Barisal team and hope to take part for them in the BPL,’’ Shakib said at the Airport on Wednesday before departing for USA to be with his family.

Meanwhile, BPL governing council member secretary Ismail Haider Mallick said they have almost finalized the six franchisees for the eighth edition of tournament, slated from January 20 to February 20.

‘’So far we have almost finalized six franchisees for BPL. We have imposed a few conditions on them like depositing money, participation money and so forth.’

‘’Those who will deposit money by Wednesday and Thursday we will accept or else we have two-three more franchisees as back up.’

The six teams are- Dhaka, Sylhet, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram and Comilla, while BCB have finalized prize money for the tournament as the champion team will be given BDT one crore while the runner ups will be receiving BDT 50 lakh.

The tournament will be played in three venues- Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet.

Mallick added that they will speak with the respective franchises so that national team players are compensated if they miss one or two matches as they will be enjoying some break after the tour of New Zealand.

Meanwhile we have finalized prize money for the tournament. The champion team will be given BDT one crore while the runner ups will be receiving BDT 50 Lakh.
