Bangladesh opener Liton Kumar Das said on Friday that he was carrying a Test batting mindset that he feels proved dividend for him in the second ODI’s against Afghanistan.

The Tigers crushed the visitors by 88 runs in the second ODI to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, thanks to a sublime century of opener Liton Das.

Liton’s 136 off 126 was studded by 16 fours and two sixes and was well complemented by Mushfiqur Rahim’s 86 off 93 as Bangladesh compiled a hefty 306-4, their highest total against Afghanistan. The bowlers then bowled well in tandem to dismiss Afghans for 218 in 45.1 overs.

‘’I kept a Test batting mindset during his first spell, like how I usually start in a Test innings for the first 10 overs. I knew that if we could bat for 15/16 overs, the weather and pitch condition would change. Bowlers are different,’’ Liton told reporters after the game.

‘’As an opener, I have to play a big innings. My first target is to try to bat for 35 overs. I know that considering my caliber, I can score 80 runs against any attack in the world. It was going that way today, so when we crossed 40 overs today, we just wanted to get as much runs as possible. We were both set, so we tried to use that situation,’’ he said
