The Bangladesh Cricket Board official said on Saturday that they are taking over Shaheed Chandu International Cricket Stadium in order to play cricket.

BCB decided to cut all ties with the Shaheed Chandu International Stadium in Bogura March 2 due to non cooperation from the Bogura District Sports Council and the board at that point of time instructed all their employees to leave Bogura as they have decided to shift them to other venues.

The BCB has been doing the maintenance of SCICS since October 10, 2006, and has organized international and domestic cricket matches at the venue.

BCB submitted a letter to the National Sports Council where they mentioned that they are not ready to prolong their stay in Bogura due to non-cooperation from Bogura DSC in recent times.

BCB had a meeting with NSC officials on Friday and later changed their mind after being given being assurance that they will receive all kind of cooperation from every quarter.

“Shahid Chandu Stadium will remain as it and BCB is taking over and from tomorrow we will start our activities,” BCB director Ismail Haider Mallick told reporters on Saturday.

“We will have to bring it (SCICS) under our control and take care of it. Later whether there will be games or not BCB ground committee will decide it.  We send everything to ground committee before any game and after they approve it we have games there. Whether its age-level, CCDM, Game Development, womens team, HP or whatever it is first we send it to the ground committee and later they decide,” he said.

Mahbub Anam, BCB’s ground committee chairman, said that if they can fix the travelling problem due to no airport in Bogura they can bring back international cricket over there.

“There is no problem of hotel in Bogura and international matches can be hosted here, We are talking with the latest clause because earlier we have played in Bogura coming through bus from Khulna but nowadays as there is so many games the timing has be reduced. We are discussing about the travelling issues and if that can be solved certainly international matches can be played here,” he said.
