On Wednesday, the 2018 Asia Cup trophy was unveiled by the head of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Social Development of UAE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi. The trophy is named after Unimoni Asia Cup due to sponsorship reason.
The 14th edition of Asia Cup begins from September 15. In the opening match, Bangladesh will take on five time champion Sri Lanka.
Six teams – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka will take part in the tournament. The teams are divided into two groups for the initial stage of the competition. The top two teams of each group will later play in the super four rounds.
Hong Kong, India, and Pakistan drafted for group-A, while Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will be playing each other in the group-B.
Two cities of UAE will host the entire tournament. Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi will be hosting five matches and Dubai International Stadium in Dubai will host eight matches, including the final which is being held on 28th September.
